Digital Democratization of Art Webinar

In early January, DigitalGov University asked me to lead a webinar about opening museum collections to the public as we (Freer and Sackler Galleries) had just opened our entire collection of 40,000 objects to non-commercial use.

In the webinar, I discussed 1) what it means to me to democratize access to art within a cultural institution, 2) the movement to open collections around the world, 3) the realities of digitizing a collection, and 4) the public response we received when we opened our own collection.
